DirectionsCamp Colorado is located in the Pike National Forest just 40 miles from Denver. We like to have visitors, but we prefer that they call us first (303-688-4491 - camp phone) and let know they are coming. Our caretaker's have few days off during the summer season and because the camp is fully rented and we need to respect the safety of our children's and renters children's camps. The camp is closed from October to April. Heavy winter snows make the area inaccessible, as the road into the main camp area is steep, uphill and is about 1/2 mile through snow that can sometimes drift up to hip deep. To reach Camp Colorado from Denver, traveling south on Interstate 25 exit south on Santa Fe Drive (passing the new stadium, 8th Avenue, 6th Avenue and Alameda exits). Drive out of Denver area south on Santa Fe (highway 85) roughly 14 miles to Sedalia. Turn west (right) crossing two sets of railroad tracks. Continue west ignoring the turn to Palmer Lake. You are staying on Highway 67 to Decker's and Rampart Range Road. You will head up a steep paved canyon (Jarre Canyon), watch out for deer and other wildlife that are constantly crossing the paved road especially in the evening. At the top the canyon you will see a GTE earth station installation on the right, continue on. You will reach a 10 mile per hour switchback and will be able to see much of the metropolitan Denver area. Just after that switchback is a sign for the Pike National Forest, continue on. A mile or so down the road on the left is a small store at the foot of a valley called Giddy Up Go, continue on. You will observe two camps on the left, rodeo and Silver State and start up a steep hill. At the top of the hill on the left is Rampart Range Road and on the right is the Forest Service residence, continue on straight on Highway 67. At the base of that hill is the Indian Creek Campground and they have bathrooms there, continue on, your really getting close. Another tight right turn near a brick building with a cross (Korean Camp) and Round Up Ranch, continue on. Shortly, you will see a Fire Station Number 1 and the sign for Camp Colorado (238 N. Highway 67) on the left about 13 miles from Sedalia. Turn left carefully and proceed up the long a winding dirt road. It is about a half mile up a dirt road. Please go slowly, 5 to 10 miles per hour and watch out for other cars and campers. There are a couple of one way roads in the camp, since there is heavy traffic at camp changeovers. Please watch the signs, and drive to the dinning hall/recreation building area and park in the upper parking lot.
